Author visits are one thing that I really enjoy! Being back
in the classroom with the students is natural for me after sixteen
years of teaching.
Tailoring presentations according to grade level will provide
the children with the experience of sharing ideas, interacting
with their peers and engaging in the active experience of writing
and reading.
Specific curriculum presentations can vary from story telling,
to writing, and developing the process of how a story comes to
life!
Group size of presentations may vary. However, smaller groups
personalize activities and provide more participation and interaction
on the part of the students.

| "The author visit from Alva Sachs to our school during the week long celebration
of Read Across America Day 2010 was a true highlight of the week! Great
enthusiasm, combined with creative and fun activities for the students, all made
for an amazing day! She presented her two children's books in an age
appropriate fashion to the various grade levels, capturing the attention of the
students. A wonderful woman and author to work with and I highly recommend her
to any elementary school. It was an honor and privilege to hear her speak and
to now carry her two books as part of our library collection! " |

| "It
was a great pleasure to have Alva at our school site during
the Westminster Author's Festival. There are close to 900
students at our school site and Alva was more than willing
to meet and greet with all of our classes. She was nothing
less than than accommodating and exceptional. Her demeanor
with each grade level was wonderful. The kids were engaged
and excited to be learning more about great story writing
and letting their imagination run wild. Students of all
grade levels wanted to keep on writing for weeks to come.
We are looking forward to having her back in 2011! Thank
you for such an amazing experience!" |

"On
behalf of the Skirball, I want to thank you for participating
in the Monsters & Miracles Family Day program. The
program was a great success! The Skirball saw high numbers
of visitors to the museum, received positive comments from
both the visitors and staff, and the space was always alive
with joyful families. The Skirball strives to provide our
visitors with unique experiences they can find only at
the Skirball. Your appearance helped contribute to our
goal. It was a treat to have you read for the Family Day
program and judging from the crowds and the positive comments
we will continue to have you back again.
What I enjoyed was that Family Day participants got the
chance to hear and see an author bring to life a book while
spending the day with a loved one. I greatly appreciate
your dedication and time in helping to make the program
shine. I look forward to working with you again." |

| "Alva's
visit to our pre-school was an exciting experience for
the young authors and illustrators in our classroom. The
children were very excited to meet a real life author and
listen to her story. Alva was great, taking time to listen
to the children's book they wrote and answering all their
questions. Alva provides a wonderful literary experience
for all ages and we hope to have her back again!" |

| "I
had the pleasure of meeting Alva Sachs when she did a story
time at Barnes & Noble. Setting the stage to read her
delightful book, Circus Fever, Alva arrived with balloons,
a life size clown cut-out, bookmarks, coloring, and activity
sheets. With her props, high energy, and caring manner
Alva created a festive and memorable experience for all.
Alva has already returned for a second successful story
time with her book, On Your Mark, Get Set Go!. In addition
to story time, Alva is a great resource for writing workshops,
author and educator events both in and out of the classroom,
and book fairs. I highly recommend working with Alva!" |
